IMPORTATION OF POTATOES
Mr Skinner “Not Bluffing” 1 (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 23. “My warning that alternative arrangements, including importation, would be made to ensure adequate supplies of potatoes at reasonable prices was not bluff,” the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Skinner) said yesterday. “Potatoes are readily available this year from Tasmania and are quoted at prices which would enable them to be sold at retail prices in the North Island below the current retail prices ruling for New Zealand-grown potatoes.”
