ARMY ALLIANCE APPROVED
N.Z. Regiment And 3rd Green Jackets (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 23. The Queen has approved the alliance of the New Zealand Regiment and the 3rd Green Jackets. : the Rifle Brigade, thus sealing ■ the long association between the . Royal New Zealand Infantry and the British Rifle Brigade, the Minister of Defence (Mr Con- 1 nolly) said yesterday. I This is the first alliance of the New Zealand Regiment to a British or Commonwealth Army unit. The first move towards an alii- ' ance was made by the Chief Jus- : tice (Major-General Sir Harold Barrowclough) who as honorary colonel of the New Zealand Regiment discussed the matter in Britain last year with General Sir Francis Festing, Chief of the Imperial General Staff and colonel commandant of the 3rd Green Jackets.
