N.S.W. COUNTRY TEAM BEATEN

West Coast Pack Back To Form (New Zealand Press Association) GREYMOUTH, July 24. Encountering the combined misfortune of a West Coast pack which returned to the standard that severely tested Canterbury on the Queen’s Birthday, and the loss of their centre, E. Johnson, with concussion towards the end of the first spell, . the touring New South Wales Country Rugby team suffered the second loss of their South Island tour at Greymouth on Saturday. West Coast won, 5-3, but it was Ironical that the margin should have been a conversion, for had the home kickers, A. King, A. Lindbom and P. McPherson, been in form the win would have been considerably more decisive. Throughout the second spell Coast maintained a territorial advantage, and several quite simple penalty attempts were missed.

The match was played in fine weather, but on a muddy, treacherous'field. West Coast led 5-3 at half-time.
