N.Z. Favoured To Beat Venezuela (N2. Press Association—Copyright) CARACAS (Venezuela), July 22. New Zealand, fresh from a 5-0 victory over the West Indies, is ruled slight favourite to defeat Venezuela in their second-round, American-zone Davis Cup tie. beginning today at Caracas. L A. Gerrard was expected to put New Zealand off to a good start by winning his opening singles game against the Venezuelan number two, M. Gem bos. while M. Otway was given a fair chance against the Venezuelan champion, I. PimenteL Otway said yesterday that they found the Caracas weather similar to that in New Zealand—a welcome contrast after the humid heat of the West Indies. The doubles will be played tomorrow, and the final singles on Sunday. Davis Cup officials today refused a request by the Altamira Tennis Club that at leest some of the matches in the tie be held at night to draw larger crowds.
