Union Determines Tours Policy

(New Zealand Preu Association) WELLINGTON, July 22. Policy on tours was determined at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union In Wellington today. Permission would be refused overseas teams of provincial level to tour New Zealand because of the effect such tours would have on the provincial programme, it was decided. The subject of the suggested tour of New South Wales by a team from the Seddon Shield districts will be placed on the (agenda for the next council meeting. Mr W. A. Craddock explained that the cost of the proposed tour would be raised privately and would be no charge on any unions. It was decided that if an overseas club wished to send a team to New Zealand, or a New Zealand club wished to send a teem overseac, each case would be considered on its merits. There would be no objection if such a visit did not interfere with local Rugby. Favourable consideration would be given to each application in those circumstances, providing the necessary local union approval accompanied the application.

The same attitude would be taken to primary and secondary school teams.
