FIRE ALARMS AT AIRPORT
Direct Connexion To
City Brigade
Connexion of fire alarms from all sections of the Christchurch airport to the city fire brigade should be completed before the end of the year, according to-the airport manager (Mr A. I. R. Jamieson). Approval ’as been given by the Chrstchurch City Council and tenders will be invited soon. “At present,” said Mr Jamieson yesterday, “most of the important sections of the airport—the United States Antarctic base, the terminal building and the hangars—are connected direct to the city fire alarm system. “The new work involves connecting up all the less important sections of the airport. It is not a big job and it should fall in line with other underground works around the airport,” said Mr Jamieson. Mr R. J. Doherty has been elected a member of the Government Railways Appeal Board, as the representative of general division (traffic branch).
