Quarterly Figure For Roads Board
(New Zealand "press Association) WELLINGTON, July 22. ’ During the three' months ending June 30, 1960, the National Roads Board received £4,341.153 gross from petrol taxation, compared with £4,135.902 during the corresponding period last year. Collection expenses dropped from £11,250 to £6530 and mileage tax provided another £110,685. compared with £101,681 the previous year. Registration and licence fees for the quarter rose to £1.056,801. and collection expenses (not included in the total) dropped from £20,414 to £14,946. There was also an increase in heavy traffic fees—£ 589,546 compared with £550.163. The highest item of expenditure was £1,308.159 for State highways’ construction, and the cost of State highways’ maintenance was £691.627. Advances to counties amounted to £1.012,957. and to boroughs. £550.593. The total receipts for the three months were £5,642,114 in 1959) and total expenditure was £3,916,069. Total expenditure for the corresponding period last year was £4,596,208.
