Increases Authorised For Departmental Heads

Salaries of heads of Government departments, which are directly appropriated by Parliament, have been increased in the estimates of Government expenditure. The highest paid public servant is the Secretary of the Treasury (Mr E. L. Greensmith) who will now i receive a salary of £1825, an increase of £645. The next highest are the Commissioner of Works (Mr F. •M. H. Hanson) and the Director-General of Health (Dr. H. B. Turbott) who will rige from £3360 to £3700 a year. . ' The lowest salary now paid to the h'ead of a department will be £2450.
