BONELESS MUTTON FOR JAPAN
Increase In Frozen Meat Trade
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, July 20. Samples of frozen boneless mutton were included in the cargo loaded in the Nitto Line vessel Tokowa Maru at Timaru today for Japan.
Japanese vessels are making Timaru a regular port for loading, and according to the agents, Canterbury Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., the frozen meat business has been developed and a further increase is expected. The ship, which arrived from Dunedin this morning, will call at Auckland and Mount Maunganui before leaving for Japanese ports with wool, tallow, and frozen mutton. The ship visits Timaru every three months.
