RISE IN HEATING COSTS
Faulty Insulation At Shirley B.H.S. . Poor insulation on hot water pipes has caused an increase in the heating bill of the Shirley Boys’ High School, the headmaster (Mr C. V. Gallagher) told the school board last evening. “Ten tons more coal than last year has been ordered, and more may have to be used,” he said. Poor quality insulating material crumbling from the steam pipes connecting the various sections of the school was the cause of the trouble, said Mr Gallagher. “Approval has been given by the Education Department for replacement of the insulation, but no definite arrangements have been made," he said.
