Ski-ing COACHING FOR RACERS
Special Week At Broken River Under the watchful eye of the brilliant young Swiss professional, Reudi Wyrsch, several of Canterbury’s leading racing skiers will take part in a week of advanced instruction at the North Canterbury Ski Club’s field at Broken River next week. The course, which has been limited by the host club to 24 persons, will be the first instruction week on a major scale organised in Canterbury. The cost of the Instruction had been kept to a very moderate figure, and skiers from the North Island would also attend, said the publicity officer of the Canterbury Ski Association (Mr R. J. Loughnan) yesterday. The course would cover all aspects of racing and the finer points of slalom and downhill events would be dealt with in some detail, he said. The plan for the racing week was conceived by the North Canterbury club, and is being held with the support of clubs affiliated to the Canterbury Ski Association. With most of the professional instructors in the province fully occupied with the coaching of hundreds of novices at ski schools, the racing week will enable specialised individual coaching which would not otherwise be readily available.
