LAND DRAINAGE LOAN
Board Asks For Reconsideration An immediate application to the Local Authorities Loans Board for reconsideration of the Christdtureh Drainage Board’s application for a £225,000 land drainage loan was agreed to by the board. It decided to supply information in rebuttal of the reasons given by the Loans Board’s technical advisers for not supporting the orginal application.
Work to -the value of £40,700 was approved by the Loans Board, and it promised to consider a further amount of about£loo,ooo for the Wilderness drain, but referred back to the board for ~ further consideration the balance of the proposed works. The board received a letter from the Riccarton Borough Council asking it to apply to the Loans Board for reconsideration. The borough council said it had written to-the Loans Board offering to raise the necessary finance on behalf of the board and/or find a suitable contractor.
In supporting that letter, the board also agreed to ask the Waimairi County Council and the Christchurch City Council for their support in the renewed representations.
