WOMEN'S SQUASH

Further encouragement to the sport of squash rackets among women in New Zealand will be given by the visit next month of the Australian women’s squash team. This visit follows the very successful visit to the Dominion by the Australian women’s team in 1953. This year's visit will be of three weeks and a half, and during their tour the Australian women will play in the North ; Island, South Island and Wai- > rarapa championships, and will J play against a North Island team . and 10 club teams. The members of the team are ’ Mrs J. Moray and Misses L. ’ Wright, B. Meagher, F. Grant and • C. Kent Miss Grant is from South . Australia and the other four ! players are from Victoria. Top Player Miss Wright, the top player in ; the team, is a former holder of , the Victorian and Australian ' junior titles, and has represented | her state for the last three • seasons. She is the present holder of the Australian and Victorian ; junior titles, and has been play- > ing inter-state and local competi- J tion since she was 11. A left- , handed player, she will represent ' Australia in Great Britain early j next year.
