CANADA CHIDED
“U.S. Influence * On Policy” OTTAWA, June 30. Mr Khrushchev has chided Canda’s Prime Minister (Mr Diefenbaker) over what he termed the influence of the United States on Canadian foreign policy. In a letter released yesterday by the Soviet Embassy here, Mr Khrushchev expresjed hope that the stand taken by Canada at the East-West disarmament talks in Geneva “is not the last word of the Government of Canada.” The letter was handed to Canada’s External Affairs Minister, Mr Howard Green, on Monday by the Soviet Ambassador, Mr Amasasp Aroutunian. It informed Mr Diefenbaker that the Soviet Union was breaking off the “fruitless” negotiations at Geneva and referring the disarmament question back to the United Nations.
