RED HABIT IN DEMAND
First Leg At Tauranga
"The Press" Special Service AUCKLAND, June 24. Horses from Matamata seem to dominate the main events at the Bay of Plenty Racing Club’s winter meeting at Tauranga tomorrow. Red Habit, Delloch and Triple Count are three in the first leg, the Winter Handicap, and two in the Bay of Plenty Steeplechase are King Ora and Triple Score. The field for the Winter Handicap should be a good deal smaller than is usual for middle-distance handicaps in Auckland and the Waikato because there were only 13 in the race when acceptances were taken last Monday. There will be no more than a dozen runners in the second leg. the June Handicap, but a good race seems likely all the same. Onoway and Charmlan are speedsters which might take beating, and Bandala ana Miss Ngatea also have the ability to go well. Rain yesterday softened the track, which will be heavy. Selections:—
