A 22ft totem pole will be carved from a five-ton cedar log at Canada’s Stratford Festival, opening this month, as part of an exhibit devoted to the western Canadian Indian. The carver is Mrs Ellen Neel, a direct descendant of a celebrated chief of the Kwakiutl tribe.
