Members of the public Interested in providing work for today’s campaign should telephone Mr J. Shearman (57-573) after 8 o’clock this morning. Both men and women will be available throughout the day.
Surtax Abolished.—The Isle of Man has decided to abolish surtax. Income tax will remain the same with the standard rate at 4s 6d in the pound. The proposal to abolish the surtax was made by the Lieutenant Governor, Sir Ronald Garvey (a former Governor of Fiji) who, in presenting his Budget, described it as a calculated risk well worth taking.— (London, June 22).
