TALKS ON AIR ROUTES

Position Considered

“Hopeful”

Newspaper reports of talks between New Zealand, France and the United States on air routes "seemed hopeful,” the Canterbury Public Relations Officer (Mr E, G. Beckett) said on Wednesday evening. Mr Beckett was speaking at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Progress League. He said T.E.A.L. was negotiating for an extension of its Coral Route to Tahiti and then on to Hawaii. “If these negotiations are successful this will give New Zealand one of the most fabulous tourist triangles in the Pacific Fiji, Tahiti and Hawaii,” Mr Beckett said.
