Annual Ball At Winter Garden
About 250 policemen and their partners attended the Christchurch Police Social Club’s annual ball at the Winter Garden last evening. Guests were received by Superintendent and Mrs E. J. C. Hay. They included Mr Raymond Ferner, S.M., and Mrs Ferner, Mr A. P. Blair, S.M., and Mrs Blair, Mr and Mrs E. B. E. Taylor, Dr and Mrs P. B. Maling, Mr and Mrs G. J. Robinson. Members of the ball committee were: President. Mr G. J. Robinson: vice-president, Mr M S. Ryan; secretary, Mr A. S. Bloomer; treasurer, Mr E. G Dwen; committee, Messrs P. J Mather, B. H. Hubbard, E. McLachlan, B. J. Preston, A. Cruickshanks, Miss R. J. Boyle; honorary members, Mrs A. Cruickshanks and Mr D. M. Simpson. Mrs Hay wore a gown of pink brocade, with a full skirt and a nylon net yoke studded with diamante clips, and finished with a hand-made flower at the back of the V neck. Mrs G. J. Robinson, the wife of the president, chose a gown of teal blue brocade, which featured a full skirt and a V neckline front and back.
