CONGESTION AT PORTS

Labour Still Short At Wellington

(New Zeeland Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 23.

“The congestion at Wellington is gradually easing, but we are still short of labour.” the traffic manager of the Wellington Harbour Board (Mr F. E. Ball) said today. The Wavebank for Lyttelton and the Wanganella for the Pacific Islands left last night and the Armagh for Ijrttelton this morning. The Waihemo. however, was delayed from sailing till tomorrow.

Congestion at the port of Auckland ended today. Rain, labour shortages and the ban on loading jammed the port until on Monday six ships were in the stream awaiting berths. Fine weather yesterday enabled a clear run with cargo loading and three overseas ships sailed today and five are due to leave tomorrow.
