PROGRESS LEAGUE MEMBERSHIP

Call For More “Direct Interest”

A call for more people to take a “direct interest” in the Canterbury Progress League was made by the league’s treasurer (Mr B. J. Drake). Speaking at the annual meeting of the league, he said the organisation had a strong membership financially, but not a strong active membership. “It seems that the work of the public relations officer must directly and appreciably benefit the retailers of this city.” Mr Drake said. “We should attract into our organisation many more retailers than we have,” he said. Mr Drake said one of the values of the organisation was the way it brought together the city and the country. He said if country members, too, could find ways of bringing more members into the league it would continue to prosper and flourish.
