A former senior talks officer for the New Zealand Broadcasting Service, Mr L. M. H. Cave, who has specialised in leadership training, has been appointed senior staff training officer, second in command to the superintendent of the staff training branch of the Public Service Service Commission, Wellington. A graduate of the University of Canterbury, Mr Cave began his career in teaching as a master in the Cathedral Grammar School, Christchurch, and then at Wanganui Collegiate School. In 1949 he took up the appointment of senior resident adult education tutor in the Taranaki-Wanganui area with the regional council for adult education, Victoria University. In 1955 Mr Cave was awarded a Fulbright grant for study at the University of Michigan, where he carried out further specialised studies ■ in leadership training, practical courses in radio and television in relation to adult education, and an investigation into new discussion techniques. Two years later he was appointed senior talks officer of the Broadcasting Service.
