Donne, S.M., in the Putaruru Magistrate’s Court. They were Maurice Phillip Louie Scott, aged 18, a painter, and William Hector Rossiter, aged 18, a millhand. Sergeant R. J. He denied this, and the accused “beat him rather unmercifully.” The complainant was treated by a doctor for facial injuries including a cut lip, black eye, and swollen face. “There is no jungle law even at Kinleith,” commented the Magistrate.
