Alterations To Begin

Alterations at the Christchurch Hospital to enlarge and improve the blood donors’ section would be put in hand immediately and it was hoped the new quarters would be ready in about four months, the secretary of the North Canterbury Hospital Board (Mr J. G. Laurenson) said yesterday. Approval had been obtained from the Department of Health in Wellington permitting tenders to be . accepted and contracts let immediately. While the section is undergoing structural alteration the blood transfusion services would operate in ward 14 which was now vacant, Mr Laurenson said.
