NURSERY PLAY CENTRES

Training Course For Supervisors

A workshop school will be held soon in conjunction with a supervisors’ training course by the Christchurch Nursery Play Centres’ Association. This was announced at a recent meeting of the association, when a new member of the committee of management (Mrs A. Long) was welcomed.

Mrs C. A. Noble and Mrs Long will visit Timaru nursery play centres next w'eek.

Two delegates from the Christchurch association, Mesdames E. B. Dalmer and Noble, were delegates to the recent conference of the New Zealand Federation of Nursery Play Centres’ Associations, held in Wellington. They were accompanied by three observers.

Progress was made at the conference in the preparation of a training manual for general use by play centre supervisors throughout New Zealand. Much time was spent in the framing of a federation policy concerning the ownership of nursery play centre buildings. Though play centres are. in general, housed in community buildings, some new buildings have been erected or suitable rooms purchased with money raised by the voluntary efforts of parents, particularly in the North Island, said a report of the Christchurch centre’s meeting.
