RESERVE BANK RETURN
Further Rise In Sterling
Sterling and other exchange held by the Reserve Bank rose £l.3m to £71.3m last week. The bank’s holdings of gold and overseas investments were unchanged. The State'borrowed £2.om more from the Reserve Bank and its cash balances were reduced by £o.9m. Trading banks’ deposits at the bank rose £2.4m, and trading banks’ borrowing was again nil.
