Table Tennis HIGH STANDARD BY JAPANESE
Otago Beaten Four Matches To Nil
(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. June 20. Table tennis of a standard seldom seen in New Zealand was produced by the touring Japanese women when they beat an Otago team by four matches to nil in the Town Hall tonight. The world champion. Miss K. Matsuzakl. together with Miss K Yamaizumi, produced a brilliant exhibition. The Otago players were no match for the Japanese girls. The exhibition between the JaparA ese girls was the highlight of the night. Some of their retrieving was fantastic and often winners were hit from seemingly hopeless positions. Results:— Miss K. Yamaizumi beat Mrs J. Magorian (Otago), 21-10. 21-6: beat Miss Braumann (Otago). 21-11. 21-6. Miss K Matsuzaki beat Miss P. Crowe (Otago). 21-8, 21-7; beat Mrs Magorion. 21-5. 21-10. H. Shimizu beat F. Foster (Otago), 23-20. 21-18. Miss Yamaizumi and B. A. Foster beat Miss Matsuzaki and W. Scott. 19-21. 21-7. 21-18. Miss Matsuzaki beat Miss Yamaizumi, 21-17, 23-21.
