AIR CRASH IN INDIA

Top Atom Expert Killed DEHRA DUN (North India). June 20. One of India’s top atomic experts and his wife were among four persona killed when a twinengined /unerican demonstration aircraft crashed during a test flight over the Himalayan foothills yesterday. Dr. P. K. Ghosh, director of the Government’s Atomic Mineral Division, and the plane’s American pilot. Captain A. Kuhl, were killed instantly when the sevenseater Aero Commander plummeted into the Doon Hills, 44 miles from Dehra Dun.

Mrs Ghosh and Mr S. A. Solberg, the Danish representative of a United States aviation company stationed in Hong Kong, died in hospital later. Two other passengers, both senior officials of India's Atomic Energy Department, were injured. Dr. Ghosh, aged 61. was one of India's best known geologists. The aircraft crashed one hour after taking off from New Delhi yesterday. The cause was not immediately known. The Aero Commander was brought to New Delhi last week by an American company and offered for sale to the Indian Government. It gave several demonstration Sights and the Prime Minister (Mr Nehru) was reported to have accepted an invitation to make a trip in it Ghana-Moscow Exchange.—The Russian Prime Minister (Mr Khrushchev) and the Ghana Prime Minister (Dr. Kwame Nkrumah) are to exchange visits, the Soviet news agency.
