Hospital Appointments
Sir, —Why is it that the North Canterbury Hospital Board appears to have so much delay in calling for applications for medical positions? Some few weeks ago the board made decisions which were published in the paper regarding the apointment of a psychiatrist So far I have not seen the position advertised. The South Canterbury Hospital Board has already called for applications. Will Christchurch lag behind and take the left-overs? Members of the board in praising great works do so at the expense of hospital progress.—Yours, etc., MENTAL HEALTH. June 16, 1960,
[The secretary of toe North Canterbury Hospital Board (Mr J. G. Laurenson) said: “There is a little more to advertising such an appointment besides making the over-all policy decision. Details of duties, working arrangements and relationship with allied services have to be considered and conditions of appointment prepared. This has now been done and the draft conditions of appointment are ready to be forwarded to the Department of Health for approval. When this has been received the position will be advertised throughout New Zealand and overseas.”]
