(New Zealand Press Assoeiattoa) WELLINGTON, June 1A "Theft as a servant is serious, but theft by a police constable in the course of his duty is even more serious because the police are expected not only to be scrupulously honest but also to set an example to the rest of the community,” said Mr W. H. Carson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington today ini passing sentence of a month’s imprisonment to be followed by one year’s probation, on a farmer constable,- Richard John Winning Freeborn, aged 31. Freeborn was appearing for sentence for stealing £lO from the Police Deoartment
