Men Sentenced For Rape
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 10.
Two Rotorua workmen, George Purekura Nepia, aged 23, and Herbert John Wall, aged 19, were sentenced in the Supreme Court at Auckland today to two years and a half imprisonment and a period of corrective Borstal training respectively for rape. Nepia was also charged with theft and Wall with receiving. I Mr Justice Gresson said that the offence was a cowardly one upon a mentally-retarded Maori girl of 14. He said that Nepia had previously been convicted for sexual offences and had also been found guilty of stealing money from the girl’s blazer while she had been swimming.
