TOURIST HOTEL IN AUCKLAND
American Companies’ Interest
(New Zealand Preu Association) AUCKLAND, June ®. Three United States companies are interested in building a tourist hotel in Auckland. The Mayor (Mr D. M. Robinson) said on his return from North America today that he had approached the companies while overseas.
Senior executives of the firms would visit Auckland next month for further discussions. “I told them,” said the Mayor, “that we were determined to get a decent tourist hotel as soon as possible. “But nobody is going to establish an hotel here unless it is profitable,” Mr Robinson said. “That means a relaxation of the liquor laws.” The Mayor said he would like to see Auckland hotel companies associated with the Americans in the tourist hotel project.
