Union Opposition Predicted
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 2. The proposal to amend the act to allow all unions in any one industry to be covered by the same award was “reactionary and nrovocative,” said Mr P. M. Butler, national secretary of the Labourers’ Union today. He said it would undoubtedly be opposed by the majority of trade unions. “It would involve unions of workers and employers in continual squabbles, particularly on that most hateful of all industrial problems—union jurisdiction,” he said. “In view of official statements favouring industrial harmony it is incomprehensible that such contentious legislation should even be considered at the present time.’’
