Electricians’ Wage Increase
An increase of about l|d an hour has been granted to electricians, in the Marlborough, Westland, Nelson and Canterbury districts in a new award announced by the Court of Arbitration. The award is retrospective to April 26 and will expire on April 30, 1962. The new rate was fixed by assessors in Conciliation Council and incorporates the Court of Arbitration’s general wage order increase of 24 per cent. Journeymen registered under the Electricians’ Act of 1952 will be paid at a minimum rate of 6s lid an hour, while other journeymen have a minimum rate of 6s 8d an hour.
