HARBOUR BRIDGE ESTIMATES
Project Cost £6m To March •'The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, June 1. The Auckland Harbour Bridge project cost £6,361,196 to March 31, according to the balance sheet received at the annual meeting of the bridge authority. Total payments during the first 10 months of operation were £628,654. Estimates adopted by the authority for the 12 months to March 31, 1961, allow for an expenditure of £1,352,305. Of this £721,225 will be met from loans and £631,080 from revenue. To meet all remaining compensation payments for property disturbed during construction work, £17,000 has been allowed. Damage by vehicles to the doors of toll booths is expected to cost the authority £825 and £2300 has still to be paid on the new traffic control point at the southern approaches to the bridge.
