STOREMEN AND PACKERS
Agreement On Wage Increase Complete agreement was reached on working conditions for storemen and packers covering the whole of New Zealand except the Auckland and Westland industrial districts when the Conciliation Council met on April 27 in Wellington, says a statement by the Conciliation Commissioner (Mr S. W. Armstrong). Variations from the current award include wage increases, meal allowance increase, a shift work clause and other minor alterations. Incorporation of the Arbitration Court’s general order was agreed to and the new basic wage rate for adult storemen is £l2 10s a week. The wage scale for youths shows a corresponding increase, the statement says. The new wage rates will operate from May 1 and the terms of agreement will be sent to the Court of Arbitration to be issued as a new award.
