YACHTS LEAVE FOR ISLANDS
Three Sail From Whangarei
(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, May L Three yachts, all Woolacott ketches, left Whangarei on Saturday for Rarotonga. They were the Nina, sailed by Mr and Mrs T. Buckthought and their four small children with Mr R. Boyd as helping hand; the Patsy Jean, sailed by Mr D. Silk and his wife Olive, with Messrs Keith Saul and Glynn Fell; and the Kehua, sailed by Messrs Peter Ashcroft and Selwyn Matheson, with Don Beer and John Pettit The noted designer Mr H. Woolacott, of Auckland, was present to see them oft The Nina, which may turn back if the conditions are too heavy for the children, has no fixed plans after reaching Rarotonga. The Patsy Jean will stay at Rarotonga for three or four n.on ths before leaving, possibly ' for Canada. The Kehua, which has Just returned from an island cruise, will do the same again and eventually head for Great Barrier. It is the first time that yachts have sailed from Whangarei for overseas in company. AH three are New Zealand-built boats and have made island cruises lefore. The Nina comes from Tauranga, the Patsy Jean from Hokianga and the Kehua from Whangarei.
