(New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN. April 28. Duty collected by the sales tax section of the Customs Department in Dunedin for April showed a decrease of nearly £84,000 compared with figures for the same month last year. Details (with April last year figures in parenthesis) are:— Customs. £216.691 (£189.231); sales tax. £143,613 (£59.643); tyres. £B3 (£212); petrol. £89.130 (£80,727); miscellaneous, £110.444 (£117,727); total. £559,961 (£447,541). Auckland Customs revenue collected at the Port of Auckland during April, with the figures for April, 1959, shown in parentheses, was:— Customs, £1.019.456 (£1,117,864); petrol. £433.940 (£505,169); tyres. £1291 (£2882); sales tax, £296.317 (£686,543); other, £423.548 (£549,700); total. £2,174.552 (£2,862,158), Wellington Revenue collected by the Customs Department in Wellington during April totalled £2,597.114 compared with £2,778.985 in April last year. Details are:— Customs. £932.927 (£1.235.944 last year): sales tax. £1.274.983 (£1.100.826); petrol tax, £219,318 (£245,904): tyre duty. £396 (£591); ether duties. £169,490 (£195,720).
