“CAPPING MAG” SALES
Record Of 45,000
The 45,000 capping magazines of the University of Canterbury printed this year have been sold. The sales are an increase of 10,000 on last year and a record. About 32,000 were sold in Christchurch yesterday and supplies were almost exhausted by 3 p.m. In addition to the street sales, practically every shop and factory in the city was visited. The West Coast public bought About 2650 magazines and the same number was sold irf Nelson. About 5000 were sold in Timaru. The magazine was also sold in Ashburton but the sales there are not known. More than £5600 will be raised by the sales. In the areas away from Christchurch part of the money will be given to local charities suggested by the mayors of the cities and boroughs. In Christchurch, part will be given to the Mental Health Council.
