LORNEVILLE DISPUTE
Men To Return On Monday (New Zeatana Press Association) INVERCARGILL, April 29. Work will resume at the Alliance freezing works on Monday. The 350 men who have not been working since midday on Wednesday today decided to return to their duties after discussing the stoppage with the president of their union, Mr T. P. Hackett, who, last night, received ‘‘certain advice on the matter” from the Minister of Labour (Mr Hackett). Work stopped because of a dispute concerning the payment of “waiting time” to men who cannot work because other men are attending union meetings. The matter is to be negotiated by the works management and union and Labour Department officials next week.
