Hockey COMPETITION ENTRIES
90 Teams From 29 Clubs
This season 29 clubs had entered 90 teams as against 90 teams from 28 clubs in 1959, the convener of the competitions committee (Mr D. L. Coulter) told the Canterbury Hockey association last evening. Two clubs, Beckenham and Mairehau, had withdrawn from the competition, but St. Andrew’s College and Cashmere High School had entered the Saturday competition with teams in the colleges grade. The Ist New Zealand Battalion had also entered a team in the third grade Mr Coulter suggested that an approach be made to either South Canterbury or Ashburton about a match against a senior second d vision side. If a game was arranged against Ashburton then an under 14 team should be asked to play Canterbury as well. This game would then provide all grades with reijresentative matches.
