MATCH WITH OTAGO

Problem Of Suitable Date Difficulty in finding a suitable date for a representative match against Otago at Dunedin was experienced at last evening's meeting of the Canterbury Rugby League board of control. A letter was receive fromd Otago requesting a match against Canterbury in July, but the meeting felt this month was unsuitable. The chairman (Mr L. R. Huston) said this was the busiest part of the year for Canterbury. Players would be away at the coaching school and there would also be the visit of the French team, he said. It was decided to offer August 14 or a late late in June as being suitable to Canterbury. A copy of the minutes of the last meeting of the New Zealand council revealed that an international clearance has been granted to the former New Zealand player, S. Belsham (Auckland), who has now settled in Australia. The meeting appointed Mr E. Butts as coach of the Canterbury team this season.
