Xavier College P.T.A. Meeting
The director of the Xavier College Parent-Teacher and Friends' Association, Brother Pastor, said in a report on the recent cricket season presented at the monthly meeting of the association, that the* Marist Brothers considered that boys playing in a team made, friendships which endure through their life-time.
The idea of sport should not be that winning was everything, he said, but he considered that the name of Marist stood for good sportsmen, and he was sure that friendships cemented In sportsmanship did a lot of good for the pupils, the college, and sport in general. Mr I. H. Coates, of the Government Tourist Department, showed a number of specially selected slides of different tourist attractions in New Zealand which a panel of contestants were asked to name. Mr J. M. Gibson, the winning contestant, was presented with a coloured photograph from the Tourist Department.
