NZ GO-KART FEDERATION
New Body Elects Officers (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 17. The New Zealand Go-Kart Federation was formed on Saturday at New Plymouth following decisions by the North and South Island associations. The federation’s national council will consist of seven representatives from each association.
It was decided that representations be made to the Government for the prohibition of gokarts on public roads, except with special permission or under road closure conditions.
It was decided to urge that there be a, remission of motor vehicle sales tax on go-karts. The council will take steps to institute a special insurance scheme for go-kart drivers. Officers elected were:—National president, Mr B. H. Paton (Christchurch); national vicepresident, Mr R. F. Richards (Tauranga); executive, Mr B. M. Marshall (Tauranga), one other to be elected by the South Island association; secretary, Mr F. B. Spensley (Rangiora); treasurer, Mr T. Southward (Christchurch); other council members, Mr N. R. Dabb (Tokoxpa), Mr J. A. Elvery (Hamilton), Mr A. V. Laurent (Morrinsville), Mr P. Regan (Rotorua), Mr W. Shuker
(Napier), Mr R. D. Tonkin (New Plymouth). Four others are to be elected by the South Island association.
