Sir,—What is wrong with the present day road builders? The roads and railways were built from Christchurch to Bluff by
two engineers In 12 years. Men made their own barrows and took their levels with a flax stfck. They took’ the two biggest rivets in New Zealand 5 id their stride isfifl 'did the brahcK. railways and side roads in their spare tline. Now with a football team of engineers and bosses they’re 25 years on the Haast Pass.—Yours etc FAR BACK DAN April 10, 1960.
