Duncan Sandys Divorced

Mr Duncan Sandys, Minister of Aviation, was granted a decree nisi in the Divorce Court today on the ground of desertion since November, 1956, by his wife. Diana, the eldest daughter of Sir Winston Churchill. Mrs Sandys did not contest the suit. Judge Duveen said: “It is a perfectly clear case of desertion.” Mr and Mrs Sandys have a son aged 23 and two daughters, aged 21 and 16.

As from the beginning of this year, the Stockholm Health Insurance Fund refuses to accept, and pay its members for, receipts with illegible signatures. The new rule has been made to stop frauds with falsified receipts, as scrawled and illegible signatures are more difficult to detect if falsified.
