Storm-Warning In North

(Neu) Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 10. Aucklanders battened down tonight after a frequently-broadcast storm-warning, but the storm had not arrived at a late hour. The warning, issued by the Marine Department on advice from the Weather Office,, was to small-boat owners to secure their craft. Gale-force winds lashed the east coast of Northland today and spread south into the Bay of •Plenty, as a tropical storm moved from near New Caledonia toward New Zealand. Deep-sea fishing launches which left Russell were forced to turn back because of rough seas. The high winds at Whangarei .were abating tonight. Half an inch of rain fell in Whangarei between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
