DRIVER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL
Car Hits Waikawa Bridge (New Zealand Press Association) LEVIN, April 10. The driver of a car which struck the side of the Waikawa bridge on the ma't highway near Manukau about 1.30 a.m. today was taken to Palmerston North Hospital suffering from a compound fracture of the lower leg and head injuries. He was Peter McAlister, of Hastings, aged about 23 years, who was driving from Wellington to Hastings. A passenger. Miss Denise Third, of Gisborne, was treated by a doctor for shock. A third passenger escaped injury.
