Two Bids To Kill Mr K. In Paris

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) MOSCOW, April 10. The Soviet public was told yesterday that its Prime Minister, Mr Khrushchev, was saved from two terrorist attempts on his life during his visit to Paris, according to American Associated Press.

An article in “Pravda” by the chairman of the State Committee for . Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries said one suspect was detained as Mr Khrushchev was on his way to lay a wreath at the tomb of the Unknown’ Soldier.

On him was found a hand grenade, a carbine pistol and 52 cartridge clips. Later, the article continued, “another terrorist was arrested as he was about to make an attempt on N. S. Khrushchev’s life while the latter was visiting V. I. Lenin’s house and museum.” American Associated Press said two Frenchmen were in custody on charges arising from the visit of Mr Khrushchev to France. Jeane-Claude Ghino, aged 26, a barman, was arrested on the Champs Elysees just before Mr Khrushchev passed on his' way to the Arc de Triotnphe on March 23. The second man, JeanJacques Delmas, is a retired Army sergeant, whom the police said intended to hurl grenades at Mr Khrushchev during his visit to the Paris apartment where Lenin once lived.

Under the slow French legal procedure, it might be months before either of the accused appeared in open Court, the agency said.
