Improved Demand For Fat Cattle

(From Our Oum Reporter) TEMUKA, April 8. Large entries were penned .in all sections at the Temuka stock sale today, the store sheep offering being probably the largest of the season. Good store lambs sold well, but over-all, the market appeared to be in favour of buyers. Quality was fair to good among the 140 head of fat cattie offered, the sale in thia section being the best ’for some time. Good store cattle also sold well, but over-all, the quality was not up to standard. Three races of fat sheep came forward, values improving on this sale a fortnight ago. A small entry of 100 fat lambs met with an excellent sale. There was a smaller yarding than usual in the pig section, weaners meeting with a firm sale, and porkers and baconers showing a slight rise on last sale. . Range of Values Fat Cattie.—Fat steers: good, £45 to £5l 12s 6d; medium, £4O to £44 17s 6d; light, £35 12s 6d to £39 17s 6d. Fat heifers: good, £3B to £42 12s fid; medium, £34 to £37 17s 6d; light, £27 12s 6d to £33 17s 6d. Fat cows: good, £32 to £36 17s fid; medium, £27 to £3l 17s fid; light, £l7 2s fid to £3l 17s 6d. Fat Sheep.—Fat wethers: extra good, 65s to 70s Id; good, 60s to 645; medium, 55s to 59s lOd; light, 50s Id to 54s lOd. Fat ewes: extra good, 25s Id to 32s Id; medium, 20s to 255; light, 13s to 18s, Fat lambs: 37s to 55s Id.

Store Sheep.—Ewe lambs, 26s to 48s fid. Wether lambs, good. 28s to 36s fid; others, 22s to 26s fid. Shorn wether lambs, 16s to 30s 6d; twotooth wethers, to 455; two-tooth ewes, 47s to 51s; two and threeshear ewes, to 42s 6d; s.m. ewes, 26s to 33s 6d; rape ewes, 8s to 16s. Store Cattle.—Steer calves, £lO to £18; heifer calves, £9 to £11; two-year-old steers, £26 to £2B.
